A flute player from Bali in Indonesia has accused world’s leading fashion brand Louis Vuitton of using his music in a promotional video without his permission or credit.

Agus Teja Sentosa, popularly known as Gus Teja, is a flute maestro from a small village near Ubud, Bali, who plays an ethnic instrument called Suling. He leads a band, Gus Teja World Music, which blends traditional musical instruments with guitar.

A week ago, Teja wrote on Instagram: “It’s a mixed feeling of being both happy and disappointed at the same time. I believe musicians and music composers around the world will feel proud when their compositions is being used by a giant brand.

“However, in my case, this brand didn’t seek any permission or even credit mentioned the artist in any part of the video or descriptions. Well, I still hope they will spend some time to clarify this matter with me, but at the same time, I still do want to wish them all the best in their business expansion. I believe in Good Karma and all of us be blessed too.”

Teja posted on Twitter a clip of his own music video followed by the Louis Vuitton video that promoted the brand’s launch in Malaysia:

It’s a mixed feeling of being both happy and disappointed when my original song “HERO”were used by a big brand in thier marketing teaser campaign without any written permission. I believe everything happen for a reason and I look forward an explanation soon. Good Karma for ALL pic.twitter.com/nCxm1SE3Ej

A few days ago, Teja wrote on Instagram that he got a response from Louis Vuitton which is investigating the matter:

“After an agonising week of feeling being bullied by a big brand, @louisvuitton finally responded. It’s an irony how an advocator of all things Original can do such things to an artist like me.

“Just to keep everyone posted, this matter is still under investigation at thier end and rest assured Gus Teja’s Management team will do it’s best to seek clarification and justice so that no artist should be treated this way in the near future.

“Thank You for all your prayers and support. I will keep you posted again soon.”
