Local residents are invited to contribute to a meal train set up for the family of the late Roopy Toor, a resident and mortgage consultant who passed away on March 8, 2024.

“She picked her path, and never relied on anyone to get her there. Yet true to her character, she was the one person everyone could rely on,” said her friend and organizer Tanya Hartnell. “She never asked anyone for help but always helping others. The meal train is something we can all do to lighten the load for Tylor, Ari and the family during this difficult time.

Roopy Toor was diagnosed with aggressive leukemia in 2022 and passed away on March 8, 2024. Her husband, Tyler Anderson, announced her passing in a social media post.

“Roopy, born in Squamish on August 12, 1976, was wife to Tylor and adoring mother to her son, Ari. She was also a cherished friend to many, her warmth and kindness leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her,” he said. “Roopy’s love for her family, especially her son Ari, knew no bounds. Ari was not only her son but her world, and their bond was unbreakable. Roopy poured her heart and soul into caring for Ari, ensuring he felt loved and supported in every way possible.”

The community can also help contribute to a meal train organized for local resident and counsellor Raquel Nicolau, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
